Project Overview

General Mills, a global food manufacturer, required a full-site retrofit of their emergency lighting system. The facility’s existing emergency lighting was replaced with enLighten Australia’s enLink monitored emergency lighting solution, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and remote monitoring capabilities.

Scope of Work

The upgrade covered all emergency lighting across the site, including offices, amenities, warehouses, cold storage, production areas, loading docks, plant rooms, and the roof space. The signal reached all of these areas despite the facility’s thick insulated walls.  In total, 362 lights were connected to the enLink system.

Project Results

The enLink system allows General Mills to monitor emergency lighting performance by automating testing and generating reports, eliminating the need for manual inspections. Key benefits include:

✅ Reduced Maintenance Costs – Remote monitoring eliminates labour-intensive manual testing.

✅ Minimised Operational Disruptions – Automated testing eliminates the disruption and downtime typically associated with mandatory emergency light inspections.

✅ Improved Compliance – The enLink system performs continuous testing and generates monthly reports, giving site managers confidence in system functionality. Instant notifications alert them to any faults, ensuring quick response times. The reporting also provides a complete catalogue of the emergency lighting system, eliminating gaps in data and removing the delays associated with traditional six-monthly manual testing.

✅ Energy Efficiency & Sustainability – LED technology and motion sensors in maintained emergency lights, reduce power consumption, ease the load on batteries, and extend product lifespan.

✅ Reliability of Wireless mesh - The facility’s thick insulated walls posed no issues for wireless communication between enLink fittings. enLighten worked closely with the installation team to ensure the enLink mesh technology optimised communication paths, maintaining reliable connectivity without altering the location of emergency lights.
